I'm a gay communist from a highly bourgeois town in Connecticut. Currently, I'm a senior in high school; next year, I hope to go to Reed. My interests include reading (primarily non-fiction these days, although some would argue that books on Marxism aren't non-fiction at all), writing (very little creative writing, though), debate, musical theater (though I can neither sing nor act, I can still enjoy it!), movies, music (delicious indie rock), my wonderful Apple computer (I'm not as much of a computer geek as I used to be), and probably some other things that I can't remember at the moment.
E-mail me or IM me if you want to chat. Not having much of a life, I'm usually not far from my computer.
I can't come up with anything more to say, so... these are a few of my favorite things:
Music: The Decemberists, Elliott Smith, Beulah, Cake, Broken Social Scene, Bright Eyes, Phish, etc.
Fiction: Angels in America, Tony Kushner; Utopia, Thomas More; The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams; The Lord of the Rings, J. R. R. Tolkien; Doctor Faustus, Christopher Marlowe; The Handmaid's Tale, Margaret Atwood; Orlando, Virginia Woolf; Hydriotaphia, Tony Kushner.
Poetry: Langston Hughes, John Donne, Emily Dickinson, Alexander Pope, Walt Whitman.
Non-Fiction: A People's History of the United States, Howard Zinn; The Communist Manifesto, Marx and Engels; No Logo, Naomi Klein; Money and Class in America, Lewis H. Lapham; What's the Matter with Kansas?, Thomas Frank; Empire, Antonio Negri. (It's tough to have "favorites" in non-fiction, I think.)
TV: Sealab 2021, Family Guy, Queer Eye, Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, Futurama, Seinfeld, and of course, The Daily Show.
Broadway: Wicked, A New Brain, Avenue Q, La Cage Aux Folles, Chicago, Cabaret... pretty much everything.
Movies: As Good As It Gets, Something's Gotta Give, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Birdcage, Kill Bill, Sin City, A Few good Men, Donnie Darko, A Fish Called Wanda, Pi, etc.
